The world is in the process of globalization, and it’s not rare for people to immigrate to new countries in search of a new life. With the possible International Linear Collider and Tokyo 2020 Olympics in our future, Iwate wants to become a place where newcomers can embark on a career or begin a new life. We hope to someday become a truly international society.

However, like most other countries around the world, Japan has restrictions in place regarding immigration. The Immigration Bureau’s duties are to ensure that foreign nationals can disembark smoothly and stay in Japan without any problems provided they have the right documentation. We in Iwate would like to make this process easier so we have provided information and links to relevant sites regarding immigration, visas, and residence cards.

Please be aware that the Immigration Bureau and the Ministry of Justice provide the final word on immigration matters.
