You need to notify the Immigration Bureau when you change personal information. You’ll need to bring your passport, a photo, and your resident card along with an application to the Morioka Immigration Office. You must notify them within 14 days of the change. They will supply you with a new Residence Card.

This is for changing:

  • Name
  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • Nationality

Note: When changing your address, you only need to notify the city hall of the place you move from, and the city hall of the place you move to. They will notify Immigration for you.

The photo must show the applicant facing forward, without any hats or head coverings. The background must be plain, and the photo easy to see.

It must be taken within the last three months.
