A message from Governor Tasso during the 42nd meeting of

The Iwate Prefecture COVID-19 Countermeasures HQ (September 30th, 2021)

In the past week, COVID-19 infections in Iwate have reached a low point, with three days of no new cases. The rate of infection is now 0.4 infections per 100,000 people per week, equaling to Stage 1.

It is truly because of the hard work of the people of Iwate that we have been able to suppress the virus to such a level. Thank you so much.

Within Iwate, the risk of infection has gotten extremely low even in cases of close contact. I ask that the people of Iwate continue to thoroughly carry out basic infection prevention measures as they participate in social and economic activities.

The prefectural government will restart our “Iwate Food Support Project”and “Iwate Travel Support Project,” so please make use of those.

Infections have decreased within Japan as a whole, and today (September 30) marks the end of the Declaration of a State of Emergency and strict containment measures (manbo) throughout the country.

In this way, infection risk has been on the decline, but there is always a chance of someone getting infected. I ask that you to continue to act carefully: do not neglect basic prevention measures, and when crossing prefectural lines, confirm the state of infection in your destination as well as any requests made by prefectural governors.
