A message from the Governor of Iwate about COVID-19 (April 8th)
-A message given by Governor Tasso during the 9th meeting of the Iwate Prefecture COVID-19 Countermeasures HQ (April 8th)-
On April 4th, 2020, the national government of Japan declared a state of emergency.
Iwate Prefecture has not announced any measures related to the state of emergency, but taking into account the contents of the national government's declaration, I ask that you refrain from unnecessary outings to the regions under the state of emergency. This is in order to have the greatest effect on preventing the srpead of COVID-19.
To the people within the seven prefectures under the state of emergency, I ask that you refrain from going to other regions in order to prevent the spread of the virus.
I also implore the Iwate residents to continue to avoid enclosed spaces with poor ventilation, spaces crowded with people, and spaces where conversations have to be conducted at a close distance. Please continue basic actions that prevent infection, like washing your hands and practicing coughing etiquette more than you usually would.
