Lump-sum reimbursement for childbirth costs （出産育児一時金, shussan ikuji ichijikin）

You can receive a lump-sum from your insurance or your husband’s insurance, whether it’s employee’s health insurance or national health insurance. Consult with the main consultation line for your insurance （workplace, union, or municipal office） and submit the proper forms.

Childbirth allowance （出産手当金, shussan teatekin）

This monetary allowance is given to women who had been working but are taking maternity leave. Check with your workplace and social insurance office.

Loans for childbirth costs （出産費の貸付, shussanhi no kashitsuke）

Your health insurance may have a system in place to supply loans for childbirth costs. Check with your health insurance office or local municipal office.
