Central heating doesn’t come standard in many Iwatean homes, and older buildings do not have a lot of insulation. However, there are many ways to heat your home. Some heaters are best for heating a whole room, and other can be used for small space heating. You will have to pick what’s right for your situation. Most can be bought at your local electronics shop, home supply store, or online.

Below is a list of electric, oil (kerosene), gas, and other types of heating. There are also tips on saving energy.

Note: Much of the information of this page was improved using resources from the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, and the Energy Conservation Center.

Note 2: When living in older housing, you may find a lot of condensation on your windows and walls due to indoor and outdoor temperature difference. This moisture can cause damage or even lead to the growth of mold if not removed.
