Employment of Foreign Nationals Employment Security Office (Hello Work) |
Manual Worker’s Accident Indemnity InsuranceManual worker’s accident indemnity insurance covers work-related death, illness, disability, and injury for both men and women (despite its title). In the event of illness or injury, benefits cover medical fees and sick-leave pay. There is also compensation available for disability or death.Employers are required to enter their employees in this scheme, and are responsible in full for its premium payments. Claims for accident compensation are considered by the Labour Standards Inspection Office on receipt of a claim by the individual. The cause-and-effect relationship between the work and accident is considered in determining whether compensation can be made. An accident which occurs on the way to work is also considered to be work-related and compensation can be claimed. Enquires regarding this system may be made to the Labour Standards Inspection Office ( >> Employment Consultation ). Please note that in principle, if you are in Japan as a trainee you will not be covered by this insurance.
