Transfer of Passport Stamps
When you are issued with a new passport, having either lost your old one or the old one having expired, you must get all the stamps relating to your current stay in Japan transferred over from your old passport. You may do so free of charge at your local immigration office. Alternatively you may wish to carry both passports with you at all times.
