Waste Disposal

Ordinary domestic waste is collected as a free service provided by local municipalities. Waste collected from businesses (industrial waste), may only be disposed of by a waste treatment facility operator upon request and incurs a fee.

Ordinary domestic waste is classified into groups such as “burnable/ combustible”, “non-burnable / incombustible”, “recyclables” and “oversize waste” as determined by the local municipal body, and should be put out on the day (of the week), at the time and by the means appointed by the municipality.

Depending upon the local area, the collection point may be covered or uncovered. Please be aware that some local municipal bodies may also designate the type of waste bag to be used.

[Burnable] ……paper, clothing, wood, etc.
*Some municipal bodies collect kitchen (food) waste separately.

[Non-burnable] ……metals, plastics, ceramics, etc.

[Recyclables] ……glass, cans, milk / juice cartons, PET bottles, newspapers / magazines

[Oversize]
……anything too big for a waste bag

*Classification and regulations for the collection of waste may vary from municipality to municipality, so it is a good idea to ask your landlord, neighbours, or your local government for clarification.
