In Japan there are two types of divorce, divorce by consent where both parties agree to divorce, and judicial divorce where the divorce is determined in court.
For international marriages, divorce settlement in the foreign national’s home country may vary from those in Japan, but if both partners are residing in Japan, then it is Japanese law that applies.

(1) divorce registration form (witnessed and stamped by at least 2 adults)
(2) (for Japanese nationals) a copy of Resident Card (not necessary if submission is at your current place of residence ) and Family Register ( not necessary if submission is at your hometown)
(3) (for foreign nationals) a copy of your Alien Registration Card and passport
