Home Delivery Services
Home delivery services (casually known as Takkyubin in Japan, though this is a corporate trademark) are private, domestic delivery services offered by professionals through agents such as convenience stores, specialising in parcels (under 30 kg). Weight and size based restrictions and fee classifications differ for each service.
You can send parcels from home as well as from outlets including department stores, supermarkets and convenience stores. Although the post office only handles parcels up to 16 kg, these private companies handle parcels up to 30 kg and 170 cm3. (However, dimensions must conform to the following restrictions: length × width × height < 170 cm3.)
Additional services include specific day delivery, evening delivery and delivery of fresh foods. You can also send baggage to and from airports, which can be useful when making overseas trips.
