Automobile Compulsory Liability Insurance

If you own a car or motorbike you must take out compulsory liability insurance. Every 2 years cars and motorbikes of 251cc and above must by law undergo a road-worthiness test (shaken). This insurance is automatically included with the shaken.

However, for motorbikes of 250 cc and below there is no legal shaken requirement, so it is possible for the insurance to expire. In particular when buying second hand motorbikes of this class it is important to check the expiry date on the insurance certificate. If you need to buy a new insurance certificate you can do so at the shop where you bought your motorbike.
