Loans

Besides earning income through handling fees, and the interest earned on investment activities, banks also deal with loans.

In order to continue operations banks have to be sure that the money they loan will be repaid. Loans to Japanese nationals who cannot offer a security (a property / asset which can be used against the outstanding loan if re-payments are not completed) are calculated on the basis of their ability to repay the loan. Thus it is difficult for students and part-time workers to take out a loan.

For foreign nationals, particularly those without any land and without a stable job, it is even more difficult to take out a loan. As each case is different it is best to consult your bank.
