Credit Cards Credit cards are issued by trust companies, but you can also apply for one through a bank. Although still not at the level found in the west, the use of credit cards is gradually spreading. If you wish to apply for a credit card here in Japan, your ability to make repayments and your trustworthiness will be taking into consideration. However, the criteria are not quite as strict as for a loan. In many ways it is more advisable to use an international credit card (like Visa, American Express, etc.) issued in your home country.
