Be aware that a normal birth does not qualify for health insurance coverage.
Thus, you will need to pay for birth-related expenses on your own. Expect to
be billed over 200,000 yen for a typical hospital birth. However, there is a
one-time, lump-sum refund of 350,000 yen available upon application ( >> Health
Insurance System ). Please contact
your local government office or employer for more details.
