Daycare Centres

If, due to work or illness, neither parent is able to look after their preschool child at home during the day they may apply to enroll their child at a daycare centre. There are both public and private registered nurseries. Opening hours, age of eligibility, and tuition fees will vary and may depend on the parents’ income. You may not necessarily be able to enroll your child at the daycare centre closest to your home, so please enquire at the welfare department of your local municipal office.

[Availability and Application]

Applications may be made at anytime throughout the year, but because daycare centers are often at capacity entrance is not guaranteed. The easiest time for entrance is April, the beginning of the academic year. Applications for April entry are made in December.

[Documentation]

(1) Household head’s statement of income (record of taxes withheld ( >> Income Tax ), Statement of your tax) etc.
(2) Statement of employment
(3) Maternal and Child Health Book ( >> Pregnancy )
The application procedure at your local municipal office may be slightly different, and may vary according to your personal circumstances, so please check.

[Hours]

Daycare centres are generally open from 7 am to 6 pm. Some may have different or extended hours. Please check with your municipality for specific information
