NHK Subscription Fee
Besides NHK (Nippon Hoso Kyokai), the public Japan Broadcasting Corporation,
there are a number of commercial television stations operating in Japan.
While commercial stations obtain their revenue from advertising, NHK is
funded by a subscription fee paid by viewers.
All viewers who have a television that can receive NHK broadcasts are required to have a contract with NHK.
NHK also provides satellite programming, called BS (Broadcast Satellite). Viewers of satellite television are charged an additional satellite subscription fee.

Bilingual Broadcasts
Some programmes are broadcast in both Japanese and English.You will need a television
or video with a special sound-multiplex broadcasting feature in order
to view bilingual broadcasts. |
