Most of the water to Iwate households comes from the many rivers which form part of the natural environment. The water is delicious and of high quality.
The supply of tap water is carried out by the waterworks office of each municipality.
Connection
Normally water supply is cut off whenever a rental property like an apartment is vacated. Thus before you move into your new home you will need to arrange for reconnection. To do this call the local waterworks office at least 4 or 5 days prior to moving in, and give them details of your address and the date you wish to be connected. Even if there is already running water at your new address you will still need to officially confirm connection. You may find the relevant application postcard attached to one of your water pipes, just fill it in and send it off to the waterworks office.
