Prevention of Gas Leaks and Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

To prevent gas leaks we recommend the use of a gas leak alarm. You can purchase or lease one at gas companies or distribution agencies. The lease rate will vary depending on the performance of the detector.

If you notice (smell) a gas leak or the alarm goes off, you should immediately turn off the main valve, and open the windows and doors to allow as much fresh air in as possible. You should then call your gas supplier.

Gas leaks and incomplete combustion can lead to dangerous accidents so it is important to have your gas appliances checked regularly by your gas supplier or appliance retailer and repaired when necessary. Keep your apartment well ventilated. Please also check for gas leaks in all new and second hand appliances that you purchase or receive, before you start using them.
