In 2008, Iwate Prefecture proclaimed that this region should be made the Environmental Kingdom and delivered the message to pass on the value of living in comfort and in coexistence with the natural environment .
Iwate Prefecture aims at realizing a society both in harmony with the nature and activities of human beings and with the resource and energy circulating. We put emphasis on every citizen's participation and cooperation in order to achieve it .
Iwate Prefecture presented the basic direction of measures in "The Fundamental Plan On Environment" and promulgated "Iwate Prefectural Ordinance On Promotion For New Energy Introduction And Energy Conservation" to proceed with the measures in a comprehensive and planned behavior. The ordinance is characterized by the provisions taking account of environmental viewpoints. In addition to it, "New-Energy Promotion Vision" and "Energy Conservation Promotion Vision" are both positioned as the basic plans of the ordinance .

New-Energy Promotion Vision Of Iwate Prefecture （March 1998）
In 1998, Iwate Prefecture proclaimed that it was resolved to proceed with measures towards making energy utilized in harmony with the environment and made clear the very image of Iwate as the frontrunner that strives for the environmentally-advanced region .

Based on this Vision, we strive to realizing "The Envionmental Kingdom", where the people live together with the land blessed with the beautiful nature and its benefits by taking root the lifestyle and establishing the social and economic system, which both basically entail less burdens on environment .
